Discover The Best Ways To Get Your Blog On The Search Engines
By Jason Pearson | April 19, 2008
So, in order for your blogging to do any good to get you the traffic you want and the income you need, there has to be a way to get it into the search engines where surfers will find it, right? Let’s take a look at some interesting tactics and facts that many bloggers don’t even know about, let alone new bloggers.
Discover How To Be Seen
One of the biggest methods of getting your blog on the search engines and being seen is by getting your link on other big websites. How do you do this? It is simple really. If you have ever been surfing through other blogs, you know that there are places to comment. Well, when you leave a comment, you can also leave your link. This strategy is called back linking and it is very crucial and effective for your business. What you want to do is find other blogs that you can comment to that have something to do with the subject matter of your blog. When you do this, you are ranking your blog in the search engines. If you have links at many many other sites, that brings up your popularity in the search engines.
Should you back link to smaller search engines?
The main search engines you should be concerned with are Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Outside of these three main search engines, you really don’t need to waste your time. That doesn’t mean, however, that you will do any harm by submitting to other smaller search engines. It may just mean that you take more time, but not get very big results that are worthwhile.
Using search engines just for blogging
If you want to find search engines dedicated just for blogging, it is really pretty simple, and yes, there are some that exist. Just do a search for one and you will get a list of them. They can be a bit difficult to understand at first, but once you do, they can yield great results.
If you haven’t heard of Technorati by now, you haven’t been blogging long. It is one of the best blog search engines out there and getting yours tagged to Technorati, is crucial. There are some things about Technorati that might make it a bit difficult at first to get used to, but it is definitely worth it.
There are also other sites like Furl and Delicious that offer the same types of search engine visibility. The key is to make sure that your link is seen everywhere you can think of. The more places you can have your link, the higher of a rank you will have in the search engines.
Personally, I prefer the back linking method the best. If you have the time to find blogs that are worth commenting on and doing it every day, it is worth it. Even if you don’t have the time, you could hire someone to do it for you. The cost of hiring someone far outweighs the reward you will get in place…

Jason’s blog here is a classic example of a blogging mistake. Assuming you have your own blog site make sure you visit it thoroughly at last once a month and delete all the dead links on it. The 2 responses Jason has here appear to be dead links.
Jason’s advice is always Number One and a lot of his wisdom is ageless…but so much changes on the Internet so quickly that a column written 2 years ago can be perceived as old information. If you have pearls of wisdom and share them on your blog…update it ever 3 to 6 months so it looks like fresh material.
All the best to Jason and his followers.
