Discover Simple Easy Tips To Help Make The Most Of Your Time

By Jason Pearson | August 27, 2008

As I wrote here previously, procrastination can be a huge problem when you have your own home business or any business for that matter.  If you are a business owner, work at home, or simply have any tasks that need to get done each day, if you procrastinate, you are not doing yourself a favor at all.

If you are an avid procrastinator, have done it for a long time, and don’t want to change, chances are, you probably won’t.  My question for you is, are you really ready to make that income you say you will and you need?  The first thing to think about is how badly you want the success and the money.  What do you want or need that income for?  For me, it is to provide for my family in a way that I never could without this.  I wanted to be able to live without concern about where money will come for to buy my children’s clothes, or feed them.  In fact, I not only wanted the luxury of not worrying, but also wanted to be able to go on great vacations and trips to places I have never been.  I can now do that, but let me tell you, it takes hard work.  Procrastination will definitely not get you there.

So let’s look at some small things you can start doing to prevent yourself from procrastinating.  We already talked about creating a to-do list at the end of the day for the next day.  Now, if you are not a visual person, or don’t think you will even take the time to do this, the list will be worthless to you.  In this case, you need to at least do something to be reminding yourself of what it is you need to get done each day.  However it works for you is fine.  The question to ask yourself is:  "Is what I am currently doing bringing me success?"  If it isn’t, it is time for change.

The next thing I would think about doing is setting up blocks of time in your day for work and blocks of time for play.  That’s right - it is just as important to schedule play time as it is to schedule work time.  If you don’t give yourself a break every now and then, you will burn out and procrastination can take over.  It is an evil you don’t want.

The key to remember is that your time for recreation is not more than work time unless the type of work you do is such that you are able to do that. and still get everything accomplished.

One of the things that I do to help me stay focused and on track is playing music while I work.  It helps keep my mind from wandering and does wonders for concentration.  If you haven’t tried it yet, do so.  Along with this is making sure that your work environment is not distracting.  There should not be a t.v. in your office.  This will definitely cause problems if you are a t.v. watcher.  Also, be sure that when you are scheduling your work and play time that you don’t forget about meal time as well.  If it is doable to eat your meals away from your office, this is a nice break.  I actually have a refrigerator and microwave in my office, so I don’t even have to leave.  There is hardly any distraction there.  If I were to leave my office, go upstairs to the kitchen to make lunch, and eat it, I could easily be distracted by the phone, someone at the door, the television, mail, etc. If you wish to take a break from your office, schedule the lunch time and don’t go over the time frame.  For me, it is just easier to stay in the office.

These may seem like very simple things to do, but if you aren’t incorporating them into your daily tasks, and you are not finding the success with getting things accomplished, I urge you to try some of these tips.  It has worked wonders for me, and I know that it will do great things for you if you just try it.  Procrastination can be deadly to your business.  Don’t let it kill yours…

Discover How Lists Can Prevent Procrastination

By Jason Pearson | August 5, 2008

Do you find yourself getting to the end of a long day and realizing that you accomplished hardly anything you set your mind to accomplishing?  Unfortunately, you are not alone, my friend.  You see, the majority of people are procrastinators at one thing or another, and unfortunately, it is usually the one thing that you like doing the least.  If you work at home, or are working to get to that point, you will find that you have to push yourself hard to get every task accomplished.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  There are probably many of you out there that don’t feel like that fits you.  However, have there ever been certain projects you wanted to get done, but you waited until the last minute, and hurried and stressed yourself through it just to get it done on time?  There really isn’t anything good about stress and it is especially not good if you are hurrying through your work.

The first thing you need to think about before ending your day is what you have to do the next day.  What kinds of things do you want to accomplish?  What must be accomplished?  There will almost always be certain tasks that are not as important as another.  You will usually find that some tasks can wait until the next day, but some have to get done right away.

If you work with deadlines, you know they are extremely important.  If you are writing for a paper, for example, if you don’t meet the deadline to get your article in, you will miss getting it printed in that week’s paper.  With your business, it is highly important that you get the pertinent things done first.

It really doesn’t have to be that complicated.  If you know what you need to get done the next day, you can simply make a list of everything.  After you have done this, put a star or highlight the tasks that need to get done first and that need accomplished that day.  Next, the other tasks on your list need to be evaluated to see if they absolutely have to get done or not.  Do you sometimes feel overworked?  If so, chances are, you are putting too much on your list each day.  Try to shrink it up some if you are rezlizing that you can’t get everything done that day.  Some tasks are bigger than others and will take more time.  You may start on one of them, but you may not be abel to finish it that day.  That is o.k. - just make sure you keep it on the list for the next day to continue working on it.  This is where most people start the procrastination.  You have started something and then don’t finish it.  If you keep rolling over to the next day’s list, it has to get done.

If you have never made lists before for each day, challenge yourself to try it for a week.  If it doesn’t help you stay on track and accomplish more, you can stop the process.  From my experience, anyone who does this trick and sticks to it will succeed in what they want to do.

We will continue this next time with more time management tactics that have been proven to be successful.  If you want to know more about how to be successful with your business…

Discover How Your Self Esteem Is Effected By Motivation

By Jason Pearson | July 16, 2008

Motivation - it is a word that is used time and time again with anyone who is working for themselves.  Without it, you achieve nothing.  When you have a lot of it, you are able to achieve much.  If you think about it, when you have a day that you are really motivated to clean out the garage, wash the car, and fix that fence that has needed mended, you get it all done don’t you?  On the other hand, if you take the same day yet take away your motivation, there isn’t much chance you will get out of the chair to do those things.

In today’s society, it seems as if negativity is all around us.  The economy is bad, more and more cancer is spreading, gas prices keep going up, etc, etc…  When you want to stay motivated in anything, here are some things you need to do.  I urge you to copy this and keep for yourself to mull over and over again until it sinks in.

1.  If you have a dream, stay away from the people who think you will fail.  This is an obvious one to me.  People who think you will fail, or even want you to fail will only bring you down.

2.  Start believing that what you want to do is something you can do.  This is one of the kickers.  If you don’t really believe you can do it, you probably won’t.

3.  When trouble comes, don’t give up.  In every business, for example, there will be ups and downs.  Life isn’t full of doing everything right the first time.  Just learn from your mistakes.

4.  Are you happy?  If not, what makes you happy?  If you are not motivated to do something, maybe you are not happy.  Do something to bring your spirits up.  It will do wonders for your motivation.

5.  Keep a tight hold of your dreams.  You may have a big dream that is off way in the distance, but you must hang on to it if you want to achieve it.

6.  Make it happen.  Seems simple, right?  Well, motivation doesn’t come from sitting on the couch eating potato chips while watching television.  It comes from getting a start on what it is that needs to be done.

7.  Be realistic.  Sometimes things don’t go as planned.  You must admit to yourself that there will be bumps in the road and accept them.

8.  Write your goals down on paper.  It is proven that when you have a visual goal, it is more likely to be a goal you make.

When it seems that you don’t have a lot of motivation, it usually stems from low self esteem.  Start believing in yourself and what you can do.  It will work wonders for your goals.

As a self employed marketer, I must stay motivated to reach my goals.  Many of my goals have been reached, but there are more to accomplish yet.  If you want to know more about how you can achieve your business goals…

Discover What Can Deter You From Believing In Yourself

By Jason Pearson | July 1, 2008

Have you ever felt like you just don’t measure up to many other people in your life?   As an internet marketer, you can definitely feel like a failure if you haven’t experienced much success.  You may hear stories of people who have made it big, but wonder why you haven’t.  The problem becomes when you focus so much on that and stop focusing on what you should be doing to succeed.

The first step is to start believing in yourself and build your self esteem.  There are many ways to do this, and more than likely, you have probably read about it before.  That is why I want to talk to you about the people and things that can tear you down and put a damper in how you feel about yourself.  You will want to stay away from these as much as possible.

The first problem that comes up is a bad work environment.  If you are staying up late every night, skipping meals, and losing sleep over your work, no one will like you very much, and you won’t like yourself either.  Be sure to do what you need in order to take care of yourself and be worth something to others.

The second thing to watch out for is past failures and mistakes.  Whenever you make a mistake, you shouldn’t dwell on it forever, but use it as a tool to help you do better next time.  In fact, this is a lesson taught very early on in school.  When you make a mistake try, try again.  In the end, the mistake will make you stronger and wiser.

Be careful not to have a negative view of the world.  In today’s society, the media shows all.  It can be easy to look at yourself as being pretty low compared to how others in the world live.  You can only control what you do, not what other people do.

If you want to be successful, you must believe in yourself.  There is obviously probably more work that needs to be done, but you can leave that to a therapist if you feel you need it.  Otherwise, if you are really in pursuit of success, stay on that track.  Don’t let anything else get in the way.  Follow your goals and see them to the end.

I feel it is very important to believe in yourself and what you do.  If you don’t, you may need to reevaluate what it is you are doing and if it is of merit.  If it is, and you still feel bad about yourself, it is time to see if you are staying away from these negative things or if you need to do some more work on yourself.  We will look further into this subject in the next post.  If you want to know more about how to succeed in your business…

Discover How Easy It Is To Market With Web 2.0

By Jason Pearson | June 11, 2008

Today, I want to take a look at Web 2.0 and how you can use it to benefit your business.  If you have been around the internet for a while, you know that popular sites like MySpace and Facebook are becoming the most popular sites for adults as well as teens.  These social sites are not only a fun site, however.  They can be used to increase business and sales for your online business.

There are many ways to communicate via the web, and Web 2.0 is a more current way of communicating, using communities that are built through the relationships that are established.  You may think that your way of communication via blogs and email is good enough.  However, with Web 2.0, you get a lot more coverage.  These sites are the number one sites out there being used, so if you haven’t taken advantage of them lately, now is the time.

Many online marketers think that they have to build their own website in order to get the news out to people about their product or service.  With services like MySpace and Facebook, you have an instant website and you don’t have to do much creation.  This saves a ton of time and gets out there on the search results even faster.

Do you have any friends who have a social network?  Chances are, you have seen their web page.  These pages are designed so even teenagers can produce them.  If they are that easy, it is well worth your time spent on that than on your own original website.

Because Web 2.0 sites work around a community based affiliation, it is quite quick and easy to share your site with people around the world.  Just as you would on a blog, you can basically use it like a diary of sorts and write anything you want on these sites.  This is a good way to build your reputation and make yourself look like an expert in your field.

You may be thinking of marketing your own personal business, but bigger companies can use this type of marketing method as well.  They can integrate with other companies using this type of marketing system and build strong relationships quickly for more business ventures.

Not only can you share information, but you can also share photos, videos, and more.  It truly is the marketing method of the future.

I personally like MySpace better than Facebook, but they can both be extremely beneficial.  All you have to do is go to their website and look around.  Creating your first page is so easy and quick.  Once you have it figured out, you are ready to start sharing what you have with the world.  If you don’t think you have time to do this, you will be losing out.  Take a half hour a day and teach yourself about these two web 2.0 sites.  In my next post, I will talk about a few more.

Discover The Best Ways To Get Your Blog On The Search Engines

By Jason Pearson | April 19, 2008

So, in order for your blogging to do any good to get you the traffic you want and the income you need, there has to be a way to get it into the search engines where surfers will find it, right?  Let’s take a look at some interesting tactics and facts that many bloggers don’t even know about, let alone new bloggers.

Discover How To Be Seen

One of the biggest methods of getting your blog on the search engines and being seen is by getting your link on other big websites.  How do you do this?  It is simple really.  If you have ever been surfing through other blogs, you know that there are places to comment.  Well, when you leave a comment, you can also leave your link.  This strategy is called back linking and it is very crucial and effective for your business.  What you want to do is find other blogs that you can comment to that have something to do with the subject matter of your blog.  When you do this, you are ranking your blog in the search engines.  If you have links at many many other sites, that brings up your popularity in the search engines.

Should you back link to smaller search engines?

The main search engines you should be concerned with are Google, Yahoo, and MSN.  Outside of these three main search engines, you really don’t need to waste your time.  That doesn’t mean, however, that you will do any harm by submitting to other smaller search engines.  It may just mean that you take more time, but not get very big results that are worthwhile.

Using search engines just for blogging

If you want to find search engines dedicated just for blogging, it is really pretty simple, and yes, there are some that exist.   Just do a search for one and you will get a list of them.  They can be a bit difficult to understand at first, but once you do, they can yield great results.

If you haven’t heard of Technorati by now, you haven’t been blogging long.  It is one of the best blog search engines out there and getting yours tagged to Technorati, is crucial.   There are some things about Technorati that might make it a bit difficult at first to get used to, but it is definitely worth it.

There are also other sites like Furl and Delicious that offer the same types of search engine visibility.  The key is to make sure that your link is seen everywhere you can think of.  The more places you can have your link, the higher of a rank you will have in the search engines.

Personally, I prefer the back linking method the best.  If you have the time to find blogs that are worth commenting on and doing it every day, it is worth it.  Even if you don’t have the time, you could hire someone to do it for you. The cost of hiring someone far outweighs the reward you will get in place…

Discover How Blogging Can Make Your Business Soar

By Jason Pearson | April 9, 2008

Have you thought about blogging, but just haven’t dove into it yet?  What are you waiting for?  Blogging is probably one of the best ways to promote anything.  Whether you are promoting an affiliate product, a service, or simply yourself, you need to start a blog.  In fact, if you already have a business going, but you aren’t blogging yet, you need to get one started yesterday.  That is how crucial it can be to your success online..

There are many ways to go about blogging, and I feel that it is important to save those advertising dollars and blog for free if you can.  There are many blog sites out there that will help you with your endeavor to promote your heart out.  Blogger and Word Press are just a couple out of many different sites, but these two are my personal favorite.

Once you start a blog, it doesn’t mean that you are done and don’t have to do anything to maintain it.  In order to reach a high search engine status, you must be posting to your blog at least weekly.  In some cases, if you have your own domain name, you can post every day if you want.  Just remember that the more you post to your blogs, the more exposure it will get at the places you want.

I’ve heard it time and time again - "But Jason, I don’t know what I would write about that often."  My answer - What are you promoting?  When you know what you are promoting, you should have a wide resource to get information from.  If you are promoting a product, you can do all kinds of research on that product.  In fact, if you are selling an affiliate product, often times, the affiliate site will give you a knowledge page with it outlining everything you need to know about the product in order to help people out.

If you are promoting a product for dogs, but you don’t happen to know much about dogs, it is a good idea to find forums or chat rooms by dog owners.  Find out what people are talking about and what they know.  Look at other similar websites to yours and capture some content.  Of course, don’t copy any content, but this will at least give you some ground to write from.

OK, so you have your blog, now how are you going to get people to read it?  A blog is no good unless you have readers, right?

If you have never heard of pinging a blog, now is the time to understand what that means.  Every time you post to a blog, you need to ping that blog.  You can do this by using any pinging service on the Internet, but my favorite is www.feedshark.brainbliss.com.  It is one of the easiest sites to ping from and it takes you through step by step.  By the way, there are really only two steps.  What pinging does is it allows the search engines to be notified when you have posted new information to your blog.  This is a quick way to get this to the search engines and it is also free.

Even if you don’t currently have a blog, chances are, you have read some.  Do you enjoy doing that?  If so, this can be another big traffic booster for your blogs.  When you are reading other blogs, be sure to leave a nice comment, not spammy, and leave a link to your other blogs.  This will make you a favorite with the search engines and you will get ranked higher much quicker.

If you are promoting an affiliate product, it is much easier to market a blog than it is to market the affiliate site.  All people see when they see an affiliate site is a sales page.  A blog is more personal and not advertising.  It is important to make sure you make a distinction between the two.  If your blog is promoting or advertising too much, you will lose readers.  Don’t give it all away.  Remember, the affiliate site will do that work for you.

Discover Just How Easy It Really Is To Write Articles

By Jason Pearson | April 3, 2008

It has come to my attention that many online marketers who are trying to make money, aren’t able to get things rolling for many possible reasons.  They have worked hard, put in their time and effort into marketing, but they don’t see the results or money.  Why is this?  Well, there are many reasons, but one that I see all too often is that they don’t use article marketing to help them get traffic to their sites.  Why is this?

When you think about sitting down to write an article, what is the first thing that comes to your mind?  Unfortunately, many people have absolutely nothing come to their mind because they don’t know what to write about.  They also don’t want to sit down to write because they think it will take too much time.

One key point to realize is that your article doesn’t need to be long.  6-8 small paragraphs is all you need to get your information out there.  What do you write about?  What are you marketing?  If, like me, you are marketing an internet marketing product, or informational product, you could write articles about different types of internet marketing.  If you feel like you don’t know enough about the subject, do some research online and discover what there is to learn and teach others about.

The main thing to remember when writing an article is not to give too much information away.  This isn’t a form of advertisement.  You will write information without the hype.  The main reason you do article marketing is to get more traffic to your website.  If your readers are interested in your article, they will read the entire thing and go on to click through to your link.  That means that your writing must be interesting and easy to read.  If you are boring your reader with statistics all the way through the article, chances are, they will probably get bored and look for another article.  Write like you would write an email or letter to someone.  Make it creative and fun.

As I said before, the main reason you want to submit articles is to get the reader to click on through to your page.  Therefore, you need to have a good call to action at the bottom of your article.  Tell them what to do if you want them to click on your link.  Here is an example:

“If you want to make more money by submitting articles…

Click Here Now To Discover How To Write Traffic Building Articles”

Once you have your article written, it is important that you take great care and time to write your title.  This is sometimes the only thing a reader sees before clicking on through to read the rest of the article.  Therefore, this title is crucial.  It must be attention-getting and catchy.  If it is boring, you will have wasted your time even writing your article in the first place.

Because you want more traffic to your site, you must know a little about search engine optimization.  Without it, you will be lost.  What I mean by this is that you must choose good keywords that will get you the ranking you need.  What are the people you are targeting looking for?  In order to think of the best keywords, think about what they want and what kind of keyword they would use to search for something like your product or service. There are many keyword services on the internet that will help you come up with a keyword based on your ideas, that will have a good competition number so you can easily climb the ranks.

Once you have determined what keyword you want to use, be sure to use it once in the title of your article, twice in the article body itself, and once in the link.  If you use a keyword more than that, the search engines will see it as "keyword saturation", and will not let you rank very high.  This is highly important to remember.

You may be thinking to yourself that this all sounds great, but you just don’t have the time for it.  That is o.k.  In fact, there are many article writing services on the internet that offer articles to be written for you at a very low cost.  For some, this is the option to take, as you can get very well-written articles for little cost to you.  The rewards of having more traffic to your site will pay off in the end.

Article writing is really a very small task when it comes to marketing, but it is a very important one.  If you are not seeing the results you need in your business, start writing.  Once you do, it gets easier and easier.  If you want even more tips on how to write articles that get the traffic you want…
